Tryouts

It’s important to be aware of the process and costs associated with attending tryouts for club volleyball in the OVR. Here is a summary of the key points:

  • Tryout Membership Requirement: To attend tryouts in the summer or late fall, players who do not already have an OVR/USAV membership for the current season must purchase a $10 Tryout Membership with USA Volleyball (USAV) and the Ohio Valley Region (OVR). This membership provides secondary medical insurance for the player and liability insurance for the club.
  • Coverage and Limitations: The Tryout Membership allows players to participate in up to five (5) different club tryouts.
Tryout Fees: While the Tryout Membership covers insurance, most clubs typically charge additional fees for trying out to cover the costs of running a tryout.
  • Registration for Regular Season Membership: Registration for Regular Season Membership for each season begins in early September. A regular season membership allows for a club to register your child with said club and also allows participation in club events and tournaments throughout the season.
  • Payment Process: If a player needs to purchase a Tryout Membership or Regular Season membership, they can do so through the provided link. Additionally, players should be prepared to pay the tryout fees directly to the club hosting the tryout.

Summer and Fall tryout dates and information for players living in Ohio, the seven bordering counties of Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia can be found in the documents below.

Understanding these procedures and costs can help families prepare for the tryout process and ensure that their child has the necessary memberships and insurance coverage to participate safely.
